Introduction
The objective of the post secondary support program is to assist members of the Attawapiskat First Nation to gain access to post secondary education, and to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to pursue individual careers, personal self actualization, and to contribute to the well being and economic self reliance of the Attawapiskat First Nation in particular, and all First Nations in general.
Counselling Services
Vital components of the student's progress at the post-secondary level, are the support, counselling, and guidance services. The Attawapiskat First Nation Education Authority will endeavour to provide such services within the limits of the available resources. The Post Secondary Counsellor also encourages all students to make full use of the receiving institution's on-site programs and services as provided.
Financial Resources
The post secondary support program will provide financial assistance to eligible members of the Attawapiskat First Nation towards part of the cost of their post secondary education as prescribed within the limits of the Post Secondary guidelines and policies. All applications are subject to a selection review process by the Selection Review Committee. A letter of acknowledgement is sent out to all students applying for assistance advising them of receipt of their funding request. When an application does not meet the review criteria or is incomplete, the student is encouraged to make every reasonable effort to satisfy the provisions of the sponsorship.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for assistance under the post secondary program, applicants must be a member of the Attawapiskat First Nation. To apply for sponsorship please download the application forms: Post Secondary Form
In addition, the applicants must agree and bound by the provisions of the Post Secondary Support Policy and Regulations.
Application Submission Deadlines
February 15th of each yearfor Spring & Summer Semesters
May 15th of each year for Fall Semester
